Chief Executive and Secretary for Internal Affairs, DIA

The State Services Commissioner, Iain Rennie, today announced the appointment of Colin MacDonald to the position of Chief Executive and Secretary for Internal Affairs, Department of Internal Affairs. Mr MacDonald is currently the Chief Executive of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).  He has held this position since May 2008.

Ria McBride Public Service Management Award

The goal of the Ria McBride Award is to help women who have demonstrated potential advance to higher levels of responsibility in the Public Service. The winner of the Ria McBride Award will receive funding of $15,000 towards studying for a recognised and reputable higher qualification, in order to assist with their development towards a senior management position in the Public Service.

The State Services Commissioner, Iain Rennie, today announced that Nigel Bickle had agreed to act as Chief Executive and Secretary of Labour at the Department of Labour. Mr Bickle is currently Deputy Chief Executive, Immigration, at the Department of Labour, a position he took up in February 2010.

Introduction This guidance is intended to assist agencies and/or sectors to develop a Workforce Strategy that supports achievement of their organisational direction and business strategy.  The guidance recognises that most agencies already have well defined business strategies and plans.  The intent is to provide an opportunity for agencies to ensure that they have considered the workforce requirements arising out of their business strategies and plans and not to duplicate existing work.
