Result 7: Reduce the rates of total crime, violent crime and youth crime
Why is this important for New Zealand?
The recorded crime rate in 2012 was the lowest in 32 years, and volumes in our courts and prisons are decreasing. We have the opportunity to build on these trends. By delivering sustained reductions in crime and reoffending over the next five years, we can further reduce harm and the social and economic cost of crime.
